Dino Perakis not only practices law in Sarasota, he loves the Sarasota community. He has experience both in criminal prosecution and in private practice, having prosecuted cases in Daytona Beach, Sarasota, and Bradenton for cases from misdemeanor DUIs all the way to violent felonies. But he also gives back to the community by volunteering to give guidance to youth, offering his time in Sarasota and Manatee Teen Court as a Volunteer Judge, working as an auxiliary member of SRQ Vets to help our veterans, and diligently helping each and every client with his care and concern for their case.
Dino spends what little personal time he has surfing, wakeboarding, and playing chess. He has worked in South Korea teaching English and also spent time as a political analyst. He obtained an internship in Washington D.C. and gained litigation experience in the US Supreme Court, clerked in Federal Court, and was published in his law school’s business webzine. He also advocates on the #1 Moot Court Appellate Team in the United States. Dino is proud of his legal background and his service to our community, but his biggest source of pride is his strong relationship to his family. Everyone who knows Bill (“Billy” to his childhood friends) is aware of his ability to accomplish goals at a faster pace than most. Bill was a student at Booker High School when this country was attacked on 9/11. In response, Bill inspired his parents to emancipate him and he enlisted, at the age of 17, in the United States Marine Corps. Bill served in two separate jobs in the Marines. His first was a Security Forces Marine guarding the nation’s nuclear assets. After this guard duty, the Marine Corps attached Bill to Third Battalion, Fourth Marines, Weapons Company as an infantry mortarman where we went on to serve an extended tour of duty in Iraq from 2006 to 2007, during the troop surge.
In Iraq, Bill served as a squad leader, strengthening his desire to lead and serve those under his command. After his tour of duty in Iraq, Bill returned to Florida beginning school in Pensacola. In years following, he returned to his home town and built a successful process serving business, graduated law school, and practiced as a civil and criminal defense attorney before the desire to serve began calling once again. In June 2015, Bill brought his leadership to the State Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor, advocating for victims and seeking justice throughout Manatee, DeSoto, and Sarasota Counties. While serving as a prosecutor for the three counties he portrayed natural talents for advocacy in many courtroom appearances and trials.
Additionally, in 2015, Bill and other local veterans co-founded the local 501(c)(3) non-profit SRQ Vets that provides local resources to our veterans and their families. Specifically, they were called to supplement or create resources that the VA fails to provide. This non-profit continues to help hundreds of families and led to starting Operation Rubix that specifically provides mental health and treatment to our local veterans and their families. Bill and these veterans were an integral part of helping form the Veteran Treatment Courts in both Sarasota and Manatee counties. In 2017, Bill received the Goodwill Ambassador of the year award for services rendered to local veterans and their families. In 2018, the Sarasota County Veterans Commission awarded Bill the Veteran of the Year.
In the face of all the accolades and gratitude from the many people whom he helps and serves, Bill understands the grind and comes from humble beginnings. Hard work, honesty, communication, and always doing the right thing continues to lead Bill towards success, and that is exactly the culture he instills as our firm’s managing partner.
Today, Bill and Dino place their efforts with the people. Together as a team, they bring vigor and enthusiasm to the court system. Their arsenal consists of fearless advocacy, a higher standard of representation, and thorough communication with the people they represent. Together they work diligently in the civil arena as well as the criminal arena. The focus areas of civil litigation include, personal injury and wrongful death, business entities, property insurance claims (denials and supplementals), family law and guardianship, trust, wills and estates, probate litigation, and contract disputes. In addition, this firm represents individuals that find themselves stuck in the criminal justice system. This includes misdemeanors and felonies. Lastly, the firm continues to advocate for veterans and their families, helping in any way we can. We promote the well-being for non-profits and advocate for them as well.
If you are interested in what these words mean, Bill and Dino will always give you time to question them and better understand their mission. Please feel free to contact us. We believe in integrity and work ethic.
